I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m seeing a lot of fresh fig recipes as figs come into their full ripening, and pistachios, too, are an early fall crop. The two are found all year long, but they seem to emerge just a little more each year as another herald of fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"1002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8133.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2942\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8133.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8133-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8133-112x150.jpg 112w, https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8133-400x534.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[I]\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve made delightful wonders from fresh figs, including a savory jam that won a local food competition (see blog post <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/?p=779\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/?p=779<\/a>) and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve found a way to put pistachios in many things, from biscotti to gelato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Figs and pistachios go great together, too, as it so happens. Both are available yet exotic and bring together soft, full, rich flavors that pair nicely. I found a recipe for Pistachio Fig Scones in my little \u00e2\u20ac\u0153simply Scones\u00e2\u20ac\u009d book by Leslie Weiner and Barbara Albright,&nbsp; and I thought these would be perfect to try for September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8203.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2943\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8203.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8203-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8203-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/www.womansconed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-8203-400x533.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[A]t first, I had trouble finding pistachios that were not roasted and salted, but finally discovered some in the shell. Cut butter into 1\/2-inch cubes and distribute them over the flour mixture. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>With a pastry blender or two knives, used scissor fashion, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, stir together the egg, milk, and vanilla. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir to combine. The dough will be sticky. Stir in the nuts and figs until evenly distributed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Using a 1\/3-cup measuring cup, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 3 inches between the scones. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a cake tester or toothpick inserted into the center of a scone comes out clean.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Remove the baking sheet to a wire rack and cool for 5 minutes.
